A Regency Romance by Fannie Kent
Heiress Jane Prescott is not bothered by fortune hunters--pursued yes, but not bothered. She is quite enjoying the excitement of a London season without any desire for a marriage herself.
Instead, her intent is to find a nice wife for her childhood friend, Freddie. It's not interfering, she insists, Jane just takes great satisfaction in tidying other peoples' lives. However, some prank notes intended to deflect a designing Frenchwoman from her friend have an unintended consequence. They are interpreted as a marriage proposal from the scholarly Viscount Newcombe. Trouble ensues for Jane and she finds herself caught up in a charade not of her own choosing.
Strangers must become friends but they aren't prepared for what comes next, namely Napoleonic spies, a fictitious engagement, a mother's desire for grandchildren, secret passages and curiosity about what married people do in the bedroom.
The Interfering Heiress is currently available on Amazon in paperback and eBook formats.
About the Author
Fannie Kent, named for her great grandmother, lives with her husband in Ann Arbor, Michigan in a house built in 1859. She is the genealogist for her family and loves finding and identifying old photographs and making new connections to earlier generations.
Regency England has always been a particular interest of hers. She especially likes learning the practical everyday ways of how things worked and how people lived.
Ms. Kent is also a fan of D.E. Stevenson’s 20th century British novels. She pays homage to her by occasionally borrowing a place or character name from one of her books.
Watch for her next Regency romance, The Sisters’ Gambit, in late 2025.
